ADULT READERS WANTED
Do you want to help young people to improve their reading skills? Are you sympathetic and approachable? Do you have an hour or so to volunteer at Newmarket Academy?
If your answer to all of these questions is ‘Yes’ then we would love to hear from you.
Opportunities exist for volunteers to work with our younger pupils to boost their confidence in enhancing their reading skills. This will have a huge effect on their learning and progress across all their lessons, not just in English.
You will be working with pupils on a one-to-one basis, listening to him or her read, guiding, encouraging and supporting as necessary.
Our paired reading scheme supports our other major new initiative at Newmarket Academy, an Accelerated Reading programme which will be undertaken by all our Key Stage 3 pupils.
If you feel you have the time to give, please get in touch with Kate Nola via the school’s main telephone and email contacts. (01638 email@example.com)
ACCELERATED READER PROGRAMME
Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 students will be participating in the Accelerated Reader programme as part of their English lessons
